Hey there

Well I hope that everyone had an absolutely amazing, funfilled, and sunny summer. Sadly its coming to an end, and most people have to unfortunately return to lousy offices, schools, universities, and other places that they consider obligatory - but are otherwise known as hell.

I had a truly amazing summer, and I owe a lot of that to my wonderful sister ^hesitation, whom I bonded with quite nicely after a long time away from each other, and of course to my friends at camp in Verneux, France This summer was busy, active and absolutely overwhelming, but it would certainly be wrong of me to complain. Firstly, I went to camp for 3 weeks, to improve my french...and find out that the drinking age in france is 16 - this discovery was of course completely incidental.!!! After that, I had some family time, and finally we departed from Southhampton, England to go on our 11 day cruise around Europe, though a different side of it this time. I fell completely in love with many cities, like Hamburg, La Havre and Coppenhagen..and slightly disappointed with others like Amsterdam. Anyhow after a LOT of walking around, and intense seasickness...we landed ourselves in Nice or more specifically in Juan Les Pins, for a lieing around vacation - where I finally and happily got a pretty tan Since it was freeezzzing cold everywhere else, except for France.

SO, after ALL that excitement I have now finally have some time and desire to summarize and reflect on my exciting summer. There will be pictures soon to follow in the scraps section.

F^cking History:

And now for a little history moment. My friends and I had a small arguement about the origin of the word F^ck. My friend insisted (although I assume that he was pulling my leg) that the word used to stand for Fornication Under Consent of the King and was supposedly placed on signs above houses in medieval England during times of population control - obviously meaning that you had to ask permission...to well put it nicely continue the human race. I did believe this was very likely and for the sake of the arguement and out of complete boredome decided to do a little research. This is what I have come up with. In the end I have found out that I was right and that it is simply an urban legend, although it may be likely it is not proven. Also there is a huge section in Wikipedia on the history of the word F^ck.

Urban Legend:

Another prominent fake etymology references a medieval battle between the French and the English, in which English archers were taken prisoner. The archers were said to have had their middle fingers cut off, effectively preventing them from being able to "pluck" the bowstring after escaping or being released. The story follows that after seizing the French town where the prisoners were being held and learning of the act, the English archers who hadn't been captured began raising middle fingers to the captured French and uttering the curse, "Pluck you," in remembrance of the act. Over time the phrase is said to have evolved into the modern "Fuck you."
